Spring cleaning

It takes someone coming to visit to get my house real clean anymore. OH MY GOSH!! My house has been so neglected (I have too many other things I want to do on the weekend). I really used to like to clean, not sure why, but I did...that changed many years ago, now I loathe it. You know, the REAL cleaning. Sure, I keep the dishes done, the toilet clean, the paper clutter piled up in one spot instead of three. Thank goodness I have a small house.

Nan will be here day after tomorrow, yippee!!! I am picking up Dad Wed. morning, as he wants to go to the airport with me. When we leave the airport we'll take Dad home, visit for awhile, then head up to P'ville. Have a great dinner planned...BBQ tri tip roast, rosemary oven potatoes, asparagus, green salad. Thursday and Friday during the day, Nan and I will do whatever we feel led to do. It is so nice to not have plans. Our visits are always filled with so much activity...and so many people...we are looking forward to some "alone" time. Thursday night Shelb and I are taking her to Fats Bistro in Folsom for dinner, Friday night we meet Justin, Lynn and the boys for pizza. Sat. morning I am taking her to dad's to spend the night with them, we will be at Aunt Betty's Sat. night(hoping for the family music jam!). Sunday Dad and Mom will bring Nan back to the house and we will have the day together, it is Nan's birthday!

Walk around campus...

Took a break not too long ago, taking these shots along the way. Our campus backs up to quite a bit of acreage, and there is a nice walking trail, going up to the observatory. I was happy to see the poppy, still early up here for them to bloom, it was the only one around. I love this barn and the way it sets off the property. I am so blessed to work in a rural setting and have this area to spend my lunch time, breaks and do my exercise walking. The bird was perched and I got off a quick shot of him, but he's a little fuzzy. I am spending time trying to get better with my photography, have always had an interest and need to explore it more.

Shelb and I have no plans for tonight, dinner at home and a movie, something pay-per-view I'm sure. Shelb does have Guard drill this weekend, so he will be working.... I have a wedding shower Sat. afternoon, lots of shopping to do, cleaning on Sunday. Nan will be here on Wed. and need to get everything spit-spot before she comes!

FLIP FLOPS AND BLUE JAYS

It's that time of year again, woo hoooooo!!! Gettin' the flips out of their winter storage! Now, I am not a shoe person. I prefer being barefoot to anything. But I do have a weakness when it comes to flip flops...I really have to use self control when it comes to a cute pair, I have too many as it is...

When I got home from work yesterday, I strolled around the yard, then headed over to where Chris's garden is, and was again, terrorized by this blue jay. He does NOT want anyone over in that corner! I am wondering how I am going to get the planting done....carry a broom with me, wear heavy armor???!!!

THIRTY SEVEN YEARS

Mine and Shelby's wedding anniversary is today...high school sweethearts who have been together for 37 years plus, through better or worse, sick or poor, and so many other things! We have weathered many, many storms and have come out much stronger as a result. I truly love this "season" of our life together, it is rich and full, and the companionship is like no other...tonight we will celebrate at Heyday, a great restaurant in downtown Placerville...
This picture of us was taken in Maui in February of 2006. As I was searching for a photo for this post, I became increasingly frustrated because there are very few pictures of he and I together! You know what I'm talking about...you or your spouse are always taking the photos and rarely, if ever, is one taken of the two of you together!!! I realized that has to change because one day we won't be here, and our grand kids need to have pictures of Papa and Nammie together!

TOP O' THE MORNIN' TO YA!

St. Patty's Day, for me, really hits home that spring is just around the corner. I do have some Irish in my blood, so this day has dual significance for me. I so long for winter to be over and the advent of spring is exciting, to say the least! Enjoy your day, and be sure to wear green!

I did it!

I have wanted to get started with a blog, and I finally did it! I am not sure how often I will post, or how exciting it will be, but I am going to try it. I have yet to figure out posting pictures, but will learn as I go...

Let's see...it's Monday morning and I'll re-cap the weekend...Friday eve: Shelb and I went to see "Taken" with Liam Neeson...he is easy on the eyes! It was an action packed movie. Sat: I worked in the yard, did some pruning, trimming and raking. I was working in the back yard in Chris's garden and was almost attacked by a very angry blue jay! Well, not really attacked but he was pretty darn mad! I believe there must be a nest in the tree above the garden, or he is extremely territorial, he did not want me anywhere near it! I threw down my garden tools, and went back to the front yard. When Shelb returned from his round of golf, he very quietly retrieved my tools and cleaned up the mess of trimmings I had cut. That evening we went to a wedding reception for a young woman who has worked in our office for several years. Sunday: Mellow morning, took our take moving around, did a bible study we are working on. We are studying the Old Testament chapter by chapter. It will take us awhile, but we are not in a hurry, that's for sure! Then we did the Walmart/Raley's shopping. Shelb watched the last 4 rounds of the golf tournament, and I worked at getting the spare room ready for Nan's visit(she'll be here on the 25th, can't wait!!!). The spare room is the catch-all room, everyone must have one of those! Anyway, it needs attention...
